SOMI Education

The SOMI Education Team addresses the critical barrier of poverty that prevents many children from accessing education. Recognizing that learning is a pathway out of marginalization, the team has developed a scholarship scheme through the Mission Procure office, granting scholarships to 100 indigent students every year. This number is maintained consistently by replacing graduates with new entrants, ensuring a steady pool of beneficiaries.

Beyond tuition support, the education unit also provides school lunches and snacks for children from extremely poor homes. This intervention reduces hunger‑related absenteeism and ensures that children can concentrate during school hours. By meeting both financial and nutritional needs, SOMI creates an enabling environment for learning and personal growth.

The impact of this unit is profound: children who would otherwise be excluded from education due to poverty are given opportunities to thrive academically and socially. The scholarship program not only supports individual students but also uplifts families and communities by breaking cycles of deprivation. The provision of meals further underscores SOMI’s holistic approach, recognizing that education cannot be effective if basic needs remain unmet.

The SOMI Education Unit demonstrates that solidarity in mission extends beyond classrooms — it is about nurturing the future of vulnerable children, empowering them with knowledge, dignity, and hope.
